February 10: Tuesday Depart Los Angeles
Let the adventure begin when you board your overnight Virgin Atlantic Airways flight to London with meals and a movie on board.


February 11: Wednesday London
Arrive at London Heathrow Terminal 3 and proceed to Terminal 4 to connect with your Kenya Airways flight to Nairobi.


February 12: Thursday Arusha
Arrive in Nairobi and connect with your flight to Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha. On arrival you will be met by a Somak Safari’s Tour Director who will transfer you to your hotel. Safari briefing and rest of the day at leisure.

February 13: Friday Lake Manyara
After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Lunch at the lodge located on the edge of the escarpment. This afternoon, experience your first game drive. Lake Manyara is home to numerous birds, elephant, tree-climbing lions, hippos and buffaloes

February 14/15: Sat/Sun Ngorongoro Crater
Opportunity to participate in nature walk around the lodge in the morning before breakfast. Depart to Ngorongoro Conservation area; host to the ‘birthplace of man’. It is also home to the unique intact caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is home to abundant game, including the “big five” – elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo. Enjoy a picnic lunch after you descend to the crater floor. Next morning, another game drive in the crater. In the afternoon we’ll visit a nearby Masai village.

February 16/17: Mon/Tue Serengeti Plains
Today’s journey passes through the scenic areas of the eastern Serengeti plains to Ndutu Lodge, strategically located in the area, which is alive with the migration. This time of the year is also birthing season when many babies are born. Two days are earmarked to witness nature’s greatest spectacle, the migration of over a million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle. Daily morning and late afternoon game drives are planned for memorable photography.

February 18/19: Wed/Thu Serengeti Plains
This morning continue your journey to the world’s best-known park, the Serengeti, well known for its large prides of lion, cheetah, zebra, leopard and nearly a million or so wildebeest. Spend two days with morning and afternoon game drives in the park.

February 20: Friday Nairobi
This morning fly to Arusha and lunch at the Arumeru River Lodge. Later connect with your flight to Nairobi. Arrive in Nairobi this afternoon and overnight.

February 21/22: Sat/Sun Lake Nakuru
Drive through the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park once described by ornithologist Roger Tory-Peterson as ‘the most fabulous bird spectacle in the world’. Afternoon game viewing drive along the lakeshore. Next day’s activities include 2 game drives.

February 23: Monday Mount Kenya
This morning drive north to Sweetwaters, set in the heart of a large privately owned game reserve, enjoying magnificent views across the plains to the peaks of Mount Kenya. Lunch is followed by an afternoon game drive.

February 24/25: Tue/Wed Samburu
Continue with your safari adventure as you drive north towards Samburu with a stop at the famous signpost at the Equator to take memorable photographs. A total of 3 game drives are scheduled to show the beauty and ruggedness of this game park.

February 26: Thu Nairobi/London
After an early morning game drive and breakfast, we catch our flight to Nairobi where a hotel day room is reserved for your use until 6:00 PM. Early dinner and transfer to the airport for your flight to London.

Arrive Los Angeles Arrive home today to share fond memories and photographs with family and friends
