February 27: Fri. Los Angeles/London
Let the adventure begin when you board your overnight Virgin Atlantic Airways flight to London with meals and a movie on board.


February 28: Sat. London
Arrive at London Heathrow Terminal 3 and proceed to Terminal 4 to connect with your Kenya Airways flight to Nairobi.


March 1: Sun. Arusha
Arrive in Nairobi and connect with your flight to Kilimanjaro Airport in Arusha. On arrival you will be met by a Somak Safari’s Tour Director who will transfer you to your hotel. Safari briefing and rest of the day at leisure.

March 2/3: Mon/Tue. Tarangire
After breakfast, start your adventure to Tarangire National Park, named after the river that flows through the length of the park and provides a constant water source for the thousands of animals making their home here. Lunch is at the lodge and a late afternoon game drive will bring you close to a large variety of wildlife. Two more game drives are planned for the next day.

March 4: Wed. Lake Manyara
Early morning game drive at Tarangire, followed by breakfast at the lodge. Depart to Lake Manyara National Park, well known for its tree-climbing lions. After lunch, explore the park on a late afternoon game drive.

March 5/6 : Thu/Fri. Ngorongoro
Enjoy an early breakfast at Lake Manyara, then depart to Ngorongoro Conservation area; host to the ‘birthplace of man’. It is also home to the unique intact caldera, the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is home to abundant game, including the “big five” – elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo. Afternoon tour of the crater.

Next day, morning tour of the crater and afternoon visit to a Masai village. Lunch and dinner is at the lodge.

March 7/8/9: Sat/Sun/Mon. Serengeti Plains
Today’s journey passes through the scenic areas of the eastern Serengeti plains. Stop and visit a Masai Boma on the way to Ndutu Lodge, strategically located in the area which is alive with the migration. Arrive in time for lunch and a late afternoon game drive. This time of the year is also birthing season when many babies are born. Three days are earmarked to witness nature’s greatest spectacle, the migration of over a million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle. Next two days, morning and afternoon game drives are planned for memorable photography.

March 10/11 : Tue/Wed. Serengeti Plains
Early morning game drive before breakfast. Continue your journey to the heart of the world’s best-known park, the Serengeti. Named after the Masai word, ‘Siringet’ for endless plains of short and long grass. The Serengeti is well known for its large prides of lions, cheetah, and for nearly a million or so wildebeest. Arrive in time for lunch and a late afternoon game drive. Spend two days with morning and afternoon game drive in the park. On the second morning, in lieu of the morning game drive, an optional balloon safari is available at additional cost.

March 12/13: Thu/Fri. Serengeti -Western Corridor
Early morning game drive before breakfast. Depart to the luxurious Kirawira Tented Camp with a game drive en route. The views from the camp are breathtaking and on a clear day Lake Victoria can be seen from the tented lounge. A late afternoon game drive before dinner and overnight. The following day you have morning and afternoon game drives.

March 14: Sat. Kilimanjaro /Nairobi/London
After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Arusha where you are met on arrival and transfer to the lodge where a day room is reserved. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure. Early dinner and transfer to the airport for your flight to Nairobi and connecting flight to London.

March 15: Sun. London/Los Angeles
Arrive in London in the morning and connect with your Virgin Atlantic Airways flight home to share fond memories of your safari adventure to Tanzania.
